Step 1) Sand your coaster to 240 grit

Step 2) Apply your stencil of choice

Step 3) Fill in your stencil with either the Scorch Marker or Scorch Paint (we recommend the Scorch Paint)

Step 4) Remove the stencil

Step 5) Gradually heat the wood (*Note: Heat Gun not included)

Step 6) Apply wood finishing oil

Sourwood. It's also endgrain - which means that the wood fibers run top to bottom. Endgrain is the best wood to use with Scorch Marker, Scorch Paint, and any other medium you wish to decorate with!

Each of our wood slices comes from a mom and pop company out of North Carolina. They sustainably source trees and turn them into the perfect wood slice. We hand selected them because their values match our own. It also helps that they make the highest quality wood slice on the market.

The Scorch Marker Pros contain a heat-activated, non-toxic chemical compound. This marker allows you to draw on a surface, apply heat, and instantly see your design burn into the wood.


Whereas the Scorch Paint features our NEW formula (coming soon to the markers) that activates at an even lower temperature.

You can use any wood finish you like. We prefer our non-toxic wood finishing oil or Maker's Magic. But things like, polyurethane, shellac, modge-podge, varnish, linseed oil, tung oil, and lacquer will all work!
