The kit contains everything you need to complete the project shown in the photos except the heat gun.

Follow the directions or do your own thing.

1. Sand the board to at least 240 grit with the sanding kit

2. Wipe away the dust

3. Apply pretreatment with large orange taklon brush

4. Dry the pretreatment with a heat gun

5. Apply your stencil of choice and press it down firmly

6. Scrape scorch paint across the stencil using the silicon brush

7. Blot away excess using a paper towel

8. Remove the stencil (be sure to rinse it out so you can use it again)

9. Heat your design with a heat gun until it turns shiny black

10. Apply finishing oil to seal, pop and protect

11. (Optional) Sign the back with your Scorch Marker and heat that up too!

You can use the kit any way you like, use multiple stencils, use both, do the front and back or anything else your crafty brain can cook up.

Traditional wood burning can have a huge learning curve, it's expensive and takes a long time to master. Our paint is meant to make the process easier by speeding things up, and giving you the ability to use mesh stencils. This was especially important for Evan - as his lettering skills weren't the best.

You can use Scorch Paint on wood, paper, leather, denim, and more! Make a fashion statement by using the pen on a pair of jeans, or design a beautiful cardstock holiday card. You can even use Scorch Paint on gourds and pumpkins. With this craft paint, your only limit is your imagination. Remember, not all surfaces are created equal, test it first. If it didn't work out, let us know we will take care of you.

You can use any wood finish you like. We prefer our non-toxic wood finishing oil. But things like, polyurethane, shellac, varnish, linseed oil, tung oil, and lacquer will all work!

Yes and no. The formulas are the same, but the way you apply it is different. But we did just recently make a few upgrades. It burns faster, darker and cleaner than anything we have created yet! We know you are going to love it!

There's 2 ounces (59ml) of liquid in the Scorch Paint and 6ml of liquid in the Scorch Marker Pro. You only need to use a tiny amount. A very thin layer does the trick. It should last you 30-50 projects at least.

We prefer painting or scraping it on but there are so many application methods. To be perfectly honest, we are really excited to see how our customers use it so we can learn from them.

If you're using a mesh stencil definitely use the Scorch Paint.

If you are using a vinyl stencil or drawing freehand use the Scorch Marker Pro.

Yes it is! It really burns into the surface of the wood! However, if you make a mistake it can easily be sanded away so you can try again. This is something you can't do with a normal wood burning tool.

Yes! But please use mild soap & water and dry the cutting board right away. If the board gets dried out recondition it by using our food safe finishing oil.
