3 Scorch Marker Crafts for Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

  • 3 min read

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and one of the best ways to start getting festive is by crafting and decorating.

We love doing something special for each holiday season and using the Scorch Marker to bring out our creativity.

In this article, we’re sharing three of our favorite St. Patty’s Day craft ideas to get you feeling lucky.

And remember, you can grab your own Scorch Marker three-pack for 20% off by using the code: itslikemagic at checkout.

Now, go grab your wood-burning pen, and let’s get scorchy!

Spring is the Best Season for Learning to Wood Burn

The Scorch Marker doesn’t just create a “burn-like” design on the surface of your wood.

In fact, once the heat is applied, the first few layers of your wood are actually burned.

And, you can smell it!

For this reason, spring is one of the best times to familiarize yourself with this craft, because it allows you to get outside in a well-ventilated area to burn.

But, if it’s still too cold to experiment outside, you can always burn with the windows open.

Now let’s get to the fun part. Here are three Scorch Marker crafts that you should create just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

1. St. Patrick’s Day Coaster Set

You can never go wrong with coasters.

Not only are they cute and practical, but they can be designed in any way you’d like.

And, they’re incredibly easy to show off to all your friends and family.

Start by grabbing our wood slice 10-pack on the website and homemade St. Patrick’s Day stencil pack (remember to get them all for free by using the code ilovestencils), and you’re ready to start crafting.

Make sure to sand your slices to at least 500-grit before applying your Scorch Marker to achieve a finished look that’s crisp and clean.

And, you can watch us create these festive coasters ourselves on TikTok.

2. A Paper Máché Planter

Did you know? The Scorch Marker doesn’t only work on wood!

Though it’s called a wood-burning marker (and it burns wood extremely well), we’ve learned that this tool can also be used on surfaces, like cardboard, denim, and paper máché.

And, these paper máché planters have become one of our favorites!

The great thing about burning on surfaces that are not wood is that you don’t have to sand before crafting.

Because of the texture, you never have to worry about bleeding edges with paper máché.

And, these planters are environmentally-friendly and can be used again and again!

For this planter, we decided to go with a simple “I’m feeling lucky!” look, which we achieved with a clover.

You can watch us create the whole thing (and get some extra tips and tricks) on TikTok.

3. A St. Patty’s Day Wreath

Last, but certainly not least, is one of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day crafts.

We made it last year, and are still completely obsessed with our St. Patty’s Day wreath!

Wreaths aren’t just for Christmastime, and I think this one illustrates that perfectly.

We used a wreath frame, our wood slice 10-pack on the website, the St. Patrick’s Day stencils, and some cute green embellishments to create this beautiful work of art.

And, we even have an entire blog post with step-by-step instructions.

But, you can watch us make it by video on TikTok

Crafting with the Scorch Marker doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated, and you can still produce some incredible-looking results.

Don’t forget to follow us on social media and tag us in your creations so that we can share them.

Happy crafting!
