Your Guide to Successfully Using a Heat Gun for Crafting with the Scorch Marker

  • 2 min read

Combined with the Scorch Marker, a heat gun is a versatile tool that can help you create decorative accents, and burn designs into paper mâché, denim, and other surfaces.

It's one of the only ways to bring Scorch Marker designs up to temperature, and is one of the safest ways to successfully burn wood.

But, do you know how to use one safely?

We're going to teach you!

This article was inspired by the release of the new Scorch Marker Heat Gun, which is 1800-watts and perfectly compatible with all Scorch Marker crafts.

Tips for Safely Using Your Heat Gun

The Scorch Marker itself is totally safe, non-toxic, and harmless.

For the burn to happen in the crafting medium, however, a temperature of at least 350F is necessary.

Here are some tips for using a heat gun safely to successfully achieve this.

1. Prepare Your Work Area

Preparing your work area is the first step to using a heat gun for crafting.

Make sure that you have a clean and clear workspace, and be sure to have an extinguisher nearby if there are any open flames in the area.

2. Choose the Right Heat Gun

Choosing the right heat gun can be difficult, but it's not as intimidating as you might think.

If you're new to using a heat gun, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • What's available?
There are many different types of heat guns on the market today.
Some models have more power than others and will be better suited for some applications than others (like wood burning).
    We recommend anything over 1500-watts.

3. Prepare Your Heat Gun and Prioritize Safety

Before using your heat gun to burn a Scorch Marker craft, it's important to preheat it.

We recommend that you preheat your heat gun on the highest setting for at least 90 seconds before using it.

This will reduce the time you have to use the heat gun on your Scorch Marker craft.

Some ways to prioritize safety while using your heat gun are to:

  • Wear eye protection
  • Keep pets and children away from the area
  • Only use your heat gun in a well-ventilated area

And remember, never touch the nozzle of your heat gun; it's very hot!

Follow the simple rules above and you will be on your way to safely enjoying this versatile tool

Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Heat guns are designed to be used as a tool, and should be respected and used by an adult.

I saw the ad about Scorch Markers, and would like to find out more information. I have watched videos to learn how to use the Scorch Markers. I want to buy decals other than what I have seen here in the ads.

Thanks,
