  • 2 min read

Have you ever tried decorating or designing your own cutting boards?

It’s a fun way to craft, an exciting way to host, and leaves you with a feeling of pride every single time you cook.

In this article, we’re teaching you how to wood burn designs into your cutting boards with the Scorch Marker, and five design ideas you can recreate today!

Scorch Marker Cutting Boards are Food Safe and Non-Toxic

The great thing about the Scorch Marker is that this crafting tool allows you to permanently burn designs into wood in a way that’s safe and completely non-toxic.

And, no fancy wood-burning tool is required.

All you need is a Scorch Marker and a heat gun to get the job done.

You can even use vinyl stencils, printed from your Cricut at home, to add a dose of professionalism to your projects.

The possibilities are endless!

Here are five awesome pattern ideas to help you get started.

1. Mushroom Serving Platter

Mushrooms are cool, funky, and a whole lot of fun (not to mention, absolutely delicious)!

And now, you can have them decorate your cutting board.

Designed by a young, up-and-coming artist, these groovy mushroom stencils pair well with almost any kitchen decor. And, they’re completely free!

If the mushroom stencils weren’t enough to satisfy your inner explorer, this beautiful treeline cutting board will leave you feeling wanderlust.

3. Firefighter Cutting Board

There’s nothing like some firefighter appreciation.

Those heroes work hard, especially during the holidays.

I especially like the way this design looks on a darker cutting board, like walnut. You can watch the video of it being created here

4. Santa’s Serving Board

While it acts as more of a serving board than a cutting board, you can’t forget about Santa Claus!

This cute little serving platter lays out all of Santa’s goodies for Christmas Eve and looks absolutely adorable while doing so.

You’re sure to impress the littlest guests with this cutting board over the holidays.

5. The Family Cutting Board

It’s finally time for one of my favorite cutting boards yet!

Also burned on beautiful walnut, this “Gather” board reminds us what holiday meals are all about: the love that’s shared!

Gather around this board with your loved ones this holiday season, and impress them with your new wood-burning skills!

Your tutorials do not tell one much. I don’t like plain white wood. Can I stain the wood afterwards? Should I stain first then use the marker?
